Pros

  • The game represents a major leap forward for the franchise and introduced many features that became staples of other Heroes of Might and Magic game.
  • The game is extremely inexpensive and provides hours of fun.
  • Even though it is five years old, its upgrades definitely make major improvements.
  • The narrative is interesting, well-written, and attention-grabbing. The campaign plot twists will not leave you bored.
  • The seven campaigns provide an array of different opportunities to explore the game and see what you like. This can be very useful for online play.
  • The new underground world is a fascinating and welcome addition.

Cons

  • Its age will make it difficult to find people online to play against.
  • While the campaign is large, the difficulty of finding people to play against online basically means that you will run out of content once you finish the single-player mode.
  • The HD version does not include either expansion packs made by Ubisoft.
  • The process by which the game was mastered missed the mark in a few areas: Some colors are off and some of the graphics are blurry. These defects are manageable, but they are noticeable at points.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 is the third edition of the popular strategy and role-playing game. The game, which first came out in 1999, was subsequently released in 2015 in this High Definition edition. According to the developer's website, this was the most popular of all of the game's versions.

The game takes place over the course of seven campaigns. In the game, Queen Catherine of Enroth must travel to her homeland of Antagarich after the assassination of her father, King Gryphonheart. Antagarich has been captured by evil forces, and it is up to the Queen and her allies to return control of the realm to the just.

The game's seven campaigns allow players to control all sides of the conflict, good and bad. If you have ever played Warcraft III, you will be familiar with the model. This allows players to experience all levels of the story, which is both well-written and rather enthralling.

This is a significant upgrade over the previous game, Heroes of Might and Magic II, which had just two opposing campaigns to conquer the same land and essentially operated as mirror images of each other.

The game, like its predecessors, features intensive turn-based combat. Players will be given control of heroes who can recruit armies that then do battle against various NPCs throughout the world map. Depending on the specific scenario you are playing, you may be tasked with a variety of objectives, including raiding a town, conquering a castle, or more. Like the previous game, players are also supposed to find puzzle pieces in order to collect a major artifact.

One of the many upgrades this game features includes the addition of an underground world, which will feature a variety of resources. Like many other turn-based games, resource control and collection is absolutely critical, as you will not be able to complete the game's various objectives without controlling various mines that can be used to build buildings and pay for soldiers.

The game requires that you balance and learn a variety of skills: Exploration, resource management, combat tactics, army creation, and more. At times, this can be overwhelming and difficult. However, if you appreciate a wide array of varied content, this game will leave you very satisfied.

The game also has elements of role-playing games. Heroes can level up, and doing so allows the hero to improve various skills that can make them move faster or have more success in battle. It is very important to use your limited upgrades appropriately, lest you risk wasting points, and improving skills that will not serve you in battle.

The game has a series of significant upgrades that were made as part of the new High Definition edition. This includes significantly upgraded graphics, update scenarios, and access to online play. The online version allows you to play your friends or strangers, but this may be difficult, considering that the game is now five years old.

The game is still available for download. Depending on the service, you can purchase it from anywhere between $10-$15. Regular sales on Steam help to drive the price down even further. The game was developed by Ubisoft and can also be played on a tablet.
